I joined Lori of Humble Quilts and some other quilters to make The Spencer Museum Quilt, a Jan Patek pattern. Here is my first block. I had no trouble choosing fabrics for this one which is unusual for me, it is normally the hardest part and takes me more time than the actual sewing. I am doing needle turn applique for this project. The blocks finish at 20 inches. Hop over to Lori's blog, Humble Quilts HERE and Karen's blog, Log Cabin Quilter HERE, to see their beautiful blocks.
Spencer Museum Block One. The background is actually a little darker than in the photo. |
I have also been working on the first block for Hospital Sketches, Barbara Brackman's 2019 Sew Along. My original plan was to use Kaffe Fassett fabrics for this project, then I felt a little intimidated by them. So, I cut out more traditional Civil War fabrics and even started stitching them down, but I was just not feeling the joy. So, back to the Kaffe Fassett fabrics. I took me quite a bit of time, but I finally made my final choices and I am very happy with this block. I am doing needle turn applique on this project too.
Two of my attempts with traditional fabrics. Pretty, but not what I was looking for. |
My final lay out for Block One of Hospital Sketches. A little more stitching has been done since this photo, I hope to have it finished soon.
